Today is Dozer’s 4th day home from the vet, and 4th day post right hind leg amputation. Today has been his best day yet. Could be because it is Saturday and my only day to sleep in; but he has been non-stop since 0830. Right now he is napping in the back of my Subaru and I am sitting with him on NO LICK patrol. Shaun is cleaning out thr garage, Haley is picking the spring flowers that have bloomed, Maggie- Dozer’s girl dog is watching everyone. Comapred to Monday this is also our best day ever.
We are so glad to have our big boy home from the vet after being gone a week. He has had more major surgeries than most of my patients in the hospital. The last nine months or so have not been kind to him because of pain and other health issues. But now we feel like he is on the road to recovery. As well as teaching us how resilient he is and how to enjoy life.
He is truely an angel on Earth and we are blessed to have him.
A beautiful day indeed, can’t wait to see some pictures!
Welcome to Tripawds. I just read Dozer’s story, he has sure had his share of trials. Hopefully he is on the final road to recovery. He must feel so much better with that painful limb gone.
If you haven’t already you should check out the forums and think about sharing Dozer’s story there. Lots more people frequent the forums- if you have any questions or concerns the forums are the place to post.
I hope his recovery continues smoothly.

thanks for the advice and well wishes. i’ll do that.
Yaaayyyy for Dozer! I can sympathize with the NO LICK patrol. On other hand, I didn’t mind. Meant I couldn’t possibly do housework when I had to be on patrol.
yeah it means i can catch up on emails and such.
Wow, what a story. He sure has made it through a lot. What a fighter! Hopefully things just get brighter.
I couldn’t help but count the number of dogs you have. Do you have six? Are they all Saints? I have three dogs and two cats, and I just love them all. I try to get my husband to fence in our back yard all the time, but he knows that would probably mean another dog or so if I found one that really needed rescueing. 😉 Hehe. He knows me so well.
Anyway, best of luck for Dozer’s recovery. Hopefully he’ll slow down enough to recover fully before he over does it. And yes! Please post pictures! I love giant dogs!
